We are happy to announce that Madison Johnson and Hamish Beadle are this years Award Winners. Both Madison and Hamish will receive $1,000 towards their efforts. All of our applicants this year were spectacular in their feilds of interest. It is wonderful to see so many youth managing their Diabetes and not letting it stand in the way! We have started to put the webcasts from the World Diabetes Conference held in Melbourne up in our Resources section. There are over 332 hours of sessions to review ranging from scientific to consumer. The committee is working through each webcast in order to bring you the ones we feel will benefit our families the most.

DYNZ is proud to be a part of an event that will bring awareness about youth with Diabetes but will also serve as MEDIKIDZ book launch in New Zealand.
The event is being held on Tuesday 12 November at Civic Square in Wellington. They day will begin with the kids having a cricket match with Sophie Devine. Then you will be able to meet some of our wonderful kids with T1 Diabetes and listen to what they have to say. You will also get to meet the MEDIKIDZ characters.
The day begins at 8:00 am and should finish at 10:00 am. We hope you will bring your family and friends along to join in the fun!

We are pleased to announce that Diabetes Youth New Zealand will be having an AGM on Saturday 13 April. We are hopeful that you will attend. While we do have a few things to discuss at the AGM, we expect to have a positive day that includes a mini-workshop on the Future of DYNZ and our project proposal of a National Walk scheduled to take place in November.
The AGM will be held at Diabetes NZ Auckland. The address is 62-64 Valley Road, Mt Eden Auckland 1024 and will run from 10am to 3pm.

Diabetetes Youth New Zealand and Diabetes New Zealand are delighted to announce and congratulate the two recipients of this year’s John McLaren Youth Awards:
- Taylor Hamlin of Hamilton; and
- Harriett Maire of Auckland
Both will receive $1,000 to put towards their chosen pursuit. Taylor has been selected to play for the under-16 New Zealand Koru Basketball Team and will use his award to help him attend the Australian State Championships in Australia in January 2013. Harriett will use her award to help her travel to the UK in 2013 to attend an intensive and prestigious two-week long Shakespeare workshop at the Globe Theatre.
Once again, the judges were impressed with the high standard of all of the applications received this year, and congratulate everyone who took the time to apply.
Presentations will be made to Taylor and Harriett in due course.
